Who are the "Dreamboat Ramblers"?

We are a jazz band that enjoys playing and preserving the original New Orleans-music like it has been testified by the ragtime orchestra of the early 20th century and the recordings of the New Orleans-Revival of the 1940s.

The band started out in the early 1980s and soon followed rather the path of the Negro bands than that of the "white" Dixieland. In the course of the decades we have built up an extremely huge repertoire of 300+ titles. Many of them can rarely be heard by other bands. We present (swinging!) marches, lovesongs and dancehall tunes as well as some ragtime and blues and have a strong focus on gospels, hymns, and spirituals.

This is music from the heart - and for YOUR heart! The strength of the "Dreamboat Ramblers" is the collective improvisation of all musicians. Of course this is "seasoned" with solos, but you will mostly hear or perceive variations of the melody line in whatever we play. Listen to samples by hitting "Über uns - Klangbeispiele" section.

You will also find photos in that area. Most of our concerts are in the Rhineland area between Duesseldorf, Aachen, Cologne, and Bonn. But at times we also travel to other places like the German east. The absolute highlight was our participation at the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans in 1998.
